New Year, New Restaurant, Same Happy Tummy List: #RWDMV Visit to Honeysuckle

Ah, 'tis the month of January---the month that brings cold weather, snow, freezing rain, and bitter temperatures to the DMV. This weather certainly makes us question why we live here and not in a place with warmer climate year round. But January is also the month where approximately 300 restaurants in the DMV participate in Restaurant Week. Metropolitan Washington Restaurant Week is a special event where participating restaurants offer three-course, prix-fixe meals for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Brunch and lunch is usually priced at around $22, and dinner is typically priced at about $35. Restaurant Week is an excellent opportunity to visit an expensive, new, or fancy restaurant that you might not ever go to otherwise. As foodies, we obviously have to go to Restaurant Week when it happens! We decided to enjoy the splendors of Restaurant Week this winter at Honeysuckle , which is located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC. Honeysuckle is a hidden surprise along

Going Back in Time to Estadio

Happy New Year! We hope that you had a wonderful holiday season and the new year is off to an incredible start for you and your loved ones. It's 2019, and we are looking forward to and are excited about more blog adventures this year! But before we get out to our first #HappyTummyList restaurant of the new year, we wanted to publish a leftover post from a fantastic restaurant that we visited towards the end of last year. We know, we know...but listen, we promise to be better about this in 2019! Fall was in high bloom during our visit to Estadio for brunch back in late October of last year. We love the season in between spring and winter because it is the time of fall foliage, beautiful colors, hot apple cider, and comfort food. We made our way out in the rain to the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC to check out Estadio, which is a contemporary Spanish restaurant known for its small plates. Estadio made its way onto our radar because it has been noted for its brunch b

We're Back! And We Had Brunch!

It has been TOO LONG since our last blog post, y'all. However, after we published our last post, work owned us as we went through the hell that is the start of a new academic year. And the start of this particular school year and the subsequent weeks thereafter came with some extra stress for both of us. But now that the dust has settled a bit, we are finally back! In late September, we met up for some brunch fun at Kitchen Cray Cafe . The restaurant is located in a business park in Lanham, MD, which is not too far from Greenbelt, Bowie, College Park, and Largo. There is ample free parking in the office complex, so if you are traveling here on your way to and/or from work, parking shouldn't be a problem at all. The first thing we smelled after we parked was delicious food--if you can smell the food from outside of the restaurant, that's usually a sign that it's going to be amazing. Similar to other smaller, new restaurants, the decor at Kitchen Cray Cafe is simple ye

A Midsummer Night's Cooking Adventure

Hi folks! We hope you are enjoying your summer and living your best life. For this blog post, we decided to cook, which is a great option if you feel like staying in and not driving anywhere. On this warm, rainy day in early July, we decided to make a three course meal using all new recipes that we have been wanting to try out. For the first course, our appetizer of choice was a Mushroom and Goat Cheese Bruschetta . We followed that with a Chipotle Lime Salmon topped with an Avocado Salsa , and paired it with Damien's famous Roasted Broccoli. And we ended our evening with a decadent Flourless Cheesecake Brownie for dessert. We started our cooking adventure by prepping the ingredients for the Mushroom and Goat Cheese Bruschetta appetizer. One of the most important things to do in cooking is to wash all of your produce, so we started our prep by thoroughly cleaning the parsley and mushrooms. Mushrooms are usually full of dirt, but this appetizer will make you cherish your clean
