We Cook, Too! Did We Tell You That?

We are so close to our next restaurant adventure later this month. In the meantime, we thought it would be fun to share a recipe for a great dinner that we actually prepared ourselves. As you now know, we both love to cook--Simone tends to meal prep every week, and Damien definitely dabbles in the kitchen (especially if it involves the crockpot). But one of the best meals that we have ever made and enjoyed were these Spicy Shrimp Tacos.

A little back story about how we ended up making these Spicy Shrimp Tacos. We both really love seafood--it must be because we are Maryland natives. But Simone's fiancé (Hi Joe!) hates seafood, so when he is away for trips, Simone likes to whip up seafood dishes. On this particular day, Simone came across a recipe on Instagram via @born_2_transform who posted a Spicy Shrimp Tacos recipe from @feelgoodfoodie. The recipe was easy enough and looked delicious, hence Simone gave it go and invited Damien over. The shrimp in the tacos were coated in an amazing seasoning blend that included olive oil, cumin, oregano, chili pepper, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. The shrimp were topped with avocado (avocados can do no wrong ever!), salsa, and a cilantro chili sauce. Each and every ingredient in these Spicy Shrimp Tacos created a mouth-watering experience for us as we ate. These tacos were absolutely delicious! Our favorite components of these tacos were definitely the shrimp and the cilantro chili sauce; the cilantro chili sauce was so good that it could certainly be used in other dishes as well. Just writing about these Spicy Shrimp Tacos now makes us want to make them again soon (though, Simone thinks that Damien should volunteer to make them this round)!

We have included pictures of the recipe and the final product below. If you love tacos (who doesn't love tacos?) and shrimp, we would highly recommend you try your hand with these Spicy Shrimp Tacos. Until next time, treat yourself and take...or make...a food adventure today!

The final product. These tacos were delicious (thanks to Simone)!

The recipe for these Spicy Shrimp Tacos...yum!

Dinner at Duke's

We ushered in the month of November with a trip down to the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. to check out Duke's Grocery for a #HappyTummyList dinner. Simone had purchased a new car a few weeks prior to our outing, so we used this trip as an outlet to drown her sorrows about having a car note once again. But at least we drove into D.C. in style, right?! We also had lots to catch up on---Simone and Joe had recently come back from an amazing trip to Mexico for a friend's wedding, and Damien had just performed a wedding ceremony for close friends up in Baltimore. And Duke's, which considers itself a "neighborhood pub and supper spot" with influences from East London, was a great place for this occasion. Per usual, we started our evening with some drinks and appetizers. We have to do these things for the blog! Simone ordered the Moscow Mule, and Damien had a Founder's All Day I.P.A. The Moscow Mule was chilled, refreshing, and delicious, but it w

Going Back in Time to Estadio

Happy New Year! We hope that you had a wonderful holiday season and the new year is off to an incredible start for you and your loved ones. It's 2019, and we are looking forward to and are excited about more blog adventures this year! But before we get out to our first #HappyTummyList restaurant of the new year, we wanted to publish a leftover post from a fantastic restaurant that we visited towards the end of last year. We know, we know...but listen, we promise to be better about this in 2019! Fall was in high bloom during our visit to Estadio for brunch back in late October of last year. We love the season in between spring and winter because it is the time of fall foliage, beautiful colors, hot apple cider, and comfort food. We made our way out in the rain to the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC to check out Estadio, which is a contemporary Spanish restaurant known for its small plates. Estadio made its way onto our radar because it has been noted for its brunch b

Restaurant Review: Takoda Restaurant & Beer Garden

Summer is slowly winding down and we can't believe it. Fortunately, these are the perfect days to enjoy some of the best things about summer and the DMV, and one of those things is brunch. On the very last day of July we ventured into Washington, DC to enjoy brunch at Takoda , which is located at the beginning of the U Street corridor on 7th Street and Florida Avenue NW. Upon entering Takoda, we ventured upstairs to the main dinning area to be seated. There is a beautiful beer garden and roof top area for drinks and food as well, but it was too hot and humid outside so we opted for the downstairs dining area instead. If you enjoy the outdoors, a beautiful city view, and fresh air, then grab a seat upstairs on the rooftop which is open year-round - it is definitely beautiful up there! Simone's Review: Our waitress was incredibly sweet and offered us the Mimosa specials when we sat down. The mimosas are half priced ($6) during brunch, so we opted for individual mimosas versu
